Hospice House

The Burnett-Calvert Hospice House began accepting patients in January 2010. It was the support and generosity of the community that made Hospice House possible, and it is that same support system that keeps the House thriving today.

What is Hospice House?

Hospice House is a home for those living their final days who cannot be cared for in their own place of residence. The option of living in Hospice House brings a sense of comfort and control to individuals and families who wish to have hospice care delivered in a setting that feels like home.

Residents at Hospice House enjoy the same level of freedom and comfort they would experience in their own homes. Visits by family and friends are encouraged and welcomed.

The House has 6 patient rooms, each with French doors to the back deck and a view of nature at its best. Patient rooms include a bathroom with shower, a flat screen TV and seating for family and friends. The House also features:
• Community areas for the family to relax
• A dining room
• Ryan’s Play Room where children can play while supervised by an adult
• A serenity room for meditation/prayer and memorial services for Hospice patients

Who is eligible?

Any Calvert County resident who is living with an illness and is near the end of their life is eligible for Hospice House. Access is offered on a first-come, first-served basis and care is provided regardless of ability to pay.

Patients are generally referred by their primary care physician. However, the process can be initiated by other health care professionals, family members, friends, clergy or by the patients themselves.

To reach the Calvert Hospice Admissions Department, 24 hours a day, call 410-535-0892.
