All volunteers participate in the Hospice training. This 33-hour program includes instruction in the Hospice philosophy, care for patients, their families, and the process of grief and bereavement. Training programs are offered three times each year and begin with an all-day Saturday session followed by nine 3-hour classes. Scheduling is flexible and designed to meet the needs of the busy individuals who find volunteering with Hospice an important part of their lives. Volunteers gathered for the 2009 Volunteer Holiday Party held a Calvert Pines in Prince Frederick. The Holiday Party is held yearly as a "thank you" to volunteers and as a time to see friends, catch up and celebrate the holiday season.
