Structured as a 2-day, 1-night retreat supervised by trained mental health professionals, Teen Phoenix offers an emotionally safe atmosphere in which peer groups, art therapy, memory projects, and other activities help teens confront their loss, express their grief, and receive support from other teens who are grieving. The format of this program gives teens the freedom to feel independent while addressing their grief needs in an age-appropriate and mature manner. Bridges
October 7 - December 2

Bridges offers grief support for children and teens, ages 3 to 18, and adult members of their families. This program group meets for eight weekly sessions in the fall, winter and spring at Trinity United Methodist Church in Prince Frederick. Bridges provides growth-oriented information on the impact of death within the family. Creative activities assist youngsters with coping and growing through grief. While the youth meet in age-appropriate groups, adults meet to learn how grief affects children, how they may support their children, and how to gain support for themselves. Contact Stacey Newman for more information.

Individual Grief Counseling

Calvert Hospice offers short-term individual grief support counseling for anyone, including children and teens, experiencing distress because of the death of a significant person in their life. The eight session program offers one-on-one counseling with a professional grief counselor. Counselors help clients understand the process of grief and provide support through the pain of loss. If further support is needed, follow-up referrals can be made and resources recommended. For more information, contact Barbara Taylor or Terri Nevins.
